From farm to apartment house – the story of nawu apartments

Around 200 years ago the “Schleibach-Hof” was founded, a traditional full-time farm with cows, pigs, sheep, chickens and horses. In the 1960s the family laid the foundation for the first rentals in Kameritsch 1. Even then, many families spent unforgettable days in Carinthia at the Hubmann guesthouse.
In 1987 this became the Hubertushof adventure hotel, which had room for around 20 families. In 2006 it was renamed Naturerlebnis Kinderhotel Hubertushof, before the nawu Kinderhotel was created in 2015 – a place where family, nature and relaxation took centre stage.
Since 2022 the motto has been: back to the roots. Hotel rooms became modern self-catering apartments – sustainable, regional and close to nature. In this way we combine tradition with modern holiday comfort. Our philosophy remains the same: honest encounters, sustainability, regionality and holidays in harmony with nature.

Behind the nawu apartments is a family-run accommodation in Hermagor in Carinthia’s Gail Valley. The host family and their team look after you personally, ensuring warmth from check-in to departure and creating an atmosphere that feels more like friends than a hotel. That is exactly what makes every stay unique and sets us apart from large hotel chains.

“nawu” stands for Naturwunder (natural wonder) – and that perfectly describes our special location: nestled between mountains, lakes and forests, on the sunny side of the Alps. It means that with us you find originality and modernity at the same time: panoramic views, garden, pool and tranquillity, combined with cosy furnishings. For us, “nawu” is a promise – holidays in the heart of nature.

Our philosophy combines honest hospitality with sustainability and regionality. We value short distances, use products from Carinthia and handle resources consciously. At the same time we create retreats for relaxation and adventure areas for families.
