Traditions That Move You – Church Festival & Kufenstechen in the Gail Valley
The Church Festival, featuring Kufenstechen and the Lindentanz, is one of the most time-honored traditions in the Gail Valley—and a celebration you simply must experience at least once. It dates back to medieval jousting tournaments and is still celebrated today with genuine enthusiasm. During the Kufenstechen, riders demonstrate their skill and courage as they gallop toward wooden barrels, while the Lindentanz features dancers in beautiful traditional costumes dancing beneath the old village linden tree. Music, camaraderie, and living traditions create an atmosphere that delights young and old alike and brings a piece of Carinthian identity to life.
