Swimming school at the nawu apartments – safely into the water on a family holiday in Carinthia

Our programme is aimed at children from about 3.5 years. The experienced swimming instructors individually adjust the pace, technique and support to each stage of development. Thanks to the step-by-step structure and the use of swim trainers, even younger participants feel safe and well looked after in the water from the very start.

The lessons follow a three-part principle: first the children learn the optimal body position in the water and the “frog” leg movement. Then the coordination of arms and legs is trained. In the last step, the buoyancy aid is gradually reduced – taking breathing, stamina and safety into account – all the way to independent swimming.

A complete course consists either of 5 units of 30 minutes or 3 units of 50 minutes. The prices are tiered according to the scope booked. In addition, we offer private lessons subject to availability – ideal for children who want more intensive support or wish to remain flexible with timing.

No, all swim trainers and buoyancy aids are provided throughout the entire course. You only need swimwear and a towel – everything else is already available on site.

All course units take place in the in-house panorama indoor pool with a separate children’s pool. The pool is heated and usable regardless of the weather. Meanwhile, parents can relax in the adjoining wellness area or watch from the poolside.

Yes, for more advanced swimmers there’s the option to complete the first swimming badge (“Seepferdchen”/seahorse or “Pinguin”/penguin) during the holiday at the nawu. The prerequisite is that the children are already safe in the water and can playfully manage 25 m of breaststroke, a jump from the poolside, retrieving an object from shoulder depth as well as the basic bathing rules.
