Winter Sports at Nassfeld – More Than Just Skiing

There is a toboggan run directly in Tröpolach. The 400-metre route starts at Schlanitzer Straße. Toboggans can be rented, and the run is illuminated every day, allowing you to enjoy a ride in the evening. This makes tobogganing an easy way to add some variety to a day in the ski area.

The Nassfeld-Pressegger See region offers a total of 130 kilometres of groomed cross-country trails. Five trails in the cross-country skiing centre run through the valley and over the mountain, with a total of 22 kilometres located directly at Nassfeld. With altitudes ranging from around 600 to 1,500 metres, you can experience different landscapes and conditions. The trails are suitable for both classic and skating styles.

Yes. In addition to the extensive network of trails, the region also offers equipment rental and a cross-country ski school. This means you can try the sport during your stay without bringing your own equipment. Beginners can also learn the basics and familiarise themselves with the technique on site.

The ski area has three professional ski schools and four secure children’s practice areas. Practice lifts and magic carpets make it easier for beginners to get started, while Octi, the skiing octopus, welcomes little winter sports enthusiasts in the children’s area. Ski lessons are available for children aged four and over, while children aged three to four can take part in a taster lesson. Lunch supervision is also available.

No, there is no traditional ski kindergarten at Nassfeld. Instead, families have access to professional ski schools, secure practice areas, a children’s area, magic carpets and other activities for young skiers. At nawu apartments, there is also a supervised children’s programme once a week in the morning and once in the afternoon for children aged three and over.

During particularly cold winters, Lake Pressegger See freezes over and can offer a large natural ice rink. When ice conditions are suitable, a circular skating trail of around 2.5 kilometres is prepared. The natural ice area can cover up to 55 hectares. Whether skating is possible always depends on current temperatures and official approval of the ice surface.

When the natural ice rink is open, ice skate rental is also available at Lake Pressegger See. Drinks are available on site as well. This means you can also plan an ice-skating day spontaneously without having to bring your own equipment.

Around Nassfeld, Hermagor and Lake Pressegger See, you can enjoy a wide variety of winter activities. Tobogganing, cross-country skiing and natural ice skating are all options, as is the region’s guided winter programme. If you prefer a quieter pace, you can also go winter hiking or snowshoeing and explore the snowy landscape away from the ski slopes.
